Jason's Memory: A Beacon for Homeless Aid
Donation protected
On March 30th, 2024, I lost my oldest son, Jason Christopher Russo. He was born on 12/24/87. He lived a hard life his last 15 years, fighting mental illness, drug addiction, and experiencing homelessness. Though I always had contact with him and no matter how much help was offered by his family, friends, and others, life was too much for him to handle.
There have been certain groups through these periods that helped me keep tabs on him and also tried to assist him in getting housing and mental health assistance. I am asking for donations to distribute to Unhoused Response Group and The Hello Angel's Foundation. Shaunn and her team at URG distribute blankets, sleeping bags, and other day-to-day essentials along with bringing in mental health professionals, showers, and Narcan.
I know we all have a view of individuals experiencing homelessness and the growing epidemic it has become. All those experiencing homelessness have a story just like my son did. These organizations are needed to help those that want to get off the street do so.
I can't tell you where things went wrong, but I am blessed and grateful for the 36 years I had with him. No matter how much our children lay on us, this is not the outcome any parent wants.
