#Jason’s Warriors
On Monday 10/7/19, Jason and his wife Nicole found themselves with their world turned upside down.
Just days prior, out apple picking with their children, Cole (9) and Jayda (4), Jason had a feeling something wasn’t right. A trip to urgent care quickly snowballed into a minimum of a 1 month stay at Morristown Hospital where Jason was diagnosed with Philadelphia Chromosome Positive Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia (Ph+ALL).
After Jason and Nicole settled from the shock of the initial news, a sudden strength set in. There is no option but to win this fight and a plan to create their new normal had begun. The hardest part was having to explain to Cole & Jayda that daddy wasn't going to be coming home for a while.
With the news of being immediately hospitalized for treatment, Jason is determined to do whatever he can to not feel like just another sick cancer patient. Nicole brought his computer monitors to the hospital and borrowed a nurses desk to setup a workstation for him in his room. He continues to get up every morning and pushes to get dressed in his regular street clothes including his flat brim hats and high top sneakers. He works as often as his body will allow and FaceTimes his kids regularly.
Though Jason and his family are handling all of this so well and treatment is going great, the reality of what all of this will cost their family is real. Unfortunately, they have a limited coverage cost sharing plan which has a 12 month waiting period clause for Cancer payouts. Which means for the Kosco’s that NOTHING will be covered from October through December regarding this diagnosis. The oral Chemo, Sprysil Jason will have to continue to take indefinitely costs $13,500 month alone. With the unknown of Jason’s future treatments and needs, their family is determined to provide the best possible care for him.
We are asking for your support to help the Kosco family find their new norm and mange the unknown expenses they are about to incur.
