Javier A. (Ernie) Treviño, recently passed away on January 6th, at the age of 70 from sepsis along with other various complications of diabetes. In January 2021, Ernie was diagnosed with Chronic Kidney Disease Stage 5. This led him to begin Peritoneal Dialysis at home every day for 8 hours. In April of 2021, Ernie had a heart attack in which he had a quadruple bypass. He spent the summer going to cardiac rehab and then continued to go through his PD at home. The next year in March of 2022, Ernie developed an ulcer on the left heel of the foot and a couple of months later it became severely infected. After different ways of trying to save his foot the ultimate decision was to have an amputation. So on June 19th, Father’s Day, he had his leg below the knee amputated. After a month at the inpatient hospital rehab, Ernie was able to go home, however, while in rehab he developed another ulcer on his right heel and back ankle. Since then Ernie began to have numerous health issues that put him on constant trips to the hospital and other rehab/skilled nursing facilities from October 2022 thru January 2023. On December 26, 2022, he suffered a cardiac arrest, through CPR as a result of this he had pneumothorax(collapsed lung). There Ernie was placed on a ventilator in ICU, and while being in there he developed another infection. During the ten days in ICU, he fought but ultimately his body began to shut down. On January 6, 2023, the decision was made to take him off the ventilator and moments later he passed away.
Ernie was the main income provider for him and Velma along with Sara. Sara was let go from her job in 2020 due to Covid but she became his main caregiver up until his passing. Due to the numerous health issues, Ernie did not have health insurance. Velma and Sara did everything they could to maintain their living expenses but their main focus was Ernie’s health. When it was time to make the funeral arrangements and honor Ernie’s wishes the cost was much more than they expected. We invite you to open your hearts and help Velma and Sara with the expenses of the funeral & church services for Ernie. There is a short window of time to pay the funeral home to have services for Ernie on Thursday & Friday of this week. The amount needs to be paid off by Tuesday, January 24th. Thank you! Mil Abrazos!
