Help Jax receive his second ACL surgery

Donation protected
Hi, my name is Jake, and I'm fundraising for my dog Jax so that he can receive his second ACL surgery. I adopted my dog Jax on October 23rd, 2020 from Secondhand Hounds in the middle of the pandemic. Jax is a husky german shepherd mix full of energy and personality who helped keep me active and sane during isolation. Little did I know Jax would lead me to discover my passion for dog training, eventually carving out a new career path together. Jax and I settled into a fun routine of going to the dog park every morning and a long walk in the evening with training sessions in between. We went on trips to Grand Marais, hiking the trails up gunflint in the dead of winter. I became accustomed to bringing him everywhere with me, even quick trips to the grocery store. Being active with him became the parts of my day I looked forward to the most, and I know he felt the same way. In all that time, Jax never had a reason to go to the vet except for routine vaccinations. Thats why it came as a complete and utter shock when in May of 2022 Jax tore his ACL (or CCL as it's known in dogs) on his back left leg while running at the dog park. He was unable to put weight on it. He had to limp and hop his way through life in constant pain and depression for two months before receiving TPLO surgery (Tibial Plateau Leveling Osteotomy) in July. Thankfully during his second week of recovery, Jax started putting weight back on his leg, started to seem more like his happy self, and was even enjoying some slow and steady walks around the block. Unfortunately, after having his stitches removed, he developed an infection and regressed to not putting any weight on it. This was devastating for Jax and I. Developing this type of infection after CCL surgery is uncommon and watching Jax experience such intense pain and discomfort again was truly awful. The infection required an additional six weeks of recovery on expensive antibiotics. After 14 weeks of healing and recovering from this setback, it has been discovered that the infection has returned and the metal plate in his leg must be removed. On top of that, Jax has now torn the ACL on his right side because of all the extra weight and overcompensation he has had to place on it. Jax is only 5 years old and has a lot of life left in him, but I am not even close to paying off the first surgery and sadly no pet insurance will consider him now as the CCL tear is considered a pre-existing condition. These procedures are incredibly expensive, and after weeks of research and professional opinions, there are no good alternatives. So Jax and I are asking for your help; every little bit makes a difference and gets him closer to the road of recovery. He and I are hopeful that this could be the beginning of a new chapter for us, and we're both so grateful for any support you can offer us. If contributing to this GoFundMe isn't an option for any reason, please keep Jax in your thoughts and prayers AND consider sharing my dog training website with anyone who might need a trainer! I'd love to support others in creating a relationship with their dog that is as loving and joyful as mine with Jax! Thank you again for reading and supporting us in any way that is comfortable to you! We are so grateful.
