Jaxon's Misophonia Fight #JaxMiso18

THANK YOU.

Your generosity of $2500 last year helped SIX different people attend the Misophonia Conference  this year, coming up on Oct 18-20 in Bloomington, MN. And helped with some of Jaxon's medical bills.

Last year, the association's audiologists were so impressed by Jaxon's surprise presentation, that they created The Jaxon Legacy Award. Every year it will go to the person who showcases the most support. Jaxon was the first recipient. (Happy tears).

"But, I don't want this to all be about me," Jaxon said. "I want to help others, too. I want to be a misophonia speaker when I grow up — and a park ranger."

THIS YEAR
Yes this is last minute, but Jaxon would like to raise an additional $500 for the association to go towards more awareness so others know they are not alone. Since he's a big thinker, he says a commercial.

JAXON'S STORY
With the IQ of a genius, the bouncy, exuberance of Tigger and the wisdom of an old soul, God created Jaxon.

But as many of you know, since age 8, Jaxon has been dealing with a rare hearing disorder called Misophonia. Certain everyday sounds like "shh",  lip smacks and chewing are like "nails on a chalkboard" to him.

"It's like a sound pet peeve. Imagine a sound that makes your skin crawl. Now, imagine hearing that all over the place every day and 100 times worse." Jaxon.

As one audiologist said, "misophonia is a monster". As a family, we've seen it rob us of moments like eating dinner together, going to church and movies. When he is triggered, he hits his ears and screams. The sound echoes in his head and causes a fight or flight response. It's relentless and exhausting.

And there is no cure - yet. But the association helps fund research grants and researchers who are making breakthrough discoveries and treatments.

But Jaxon powers through with a tenacious spirit and the support of an amazing J-Team that we've built. And, he wantsto help others...to share his story to raise awareness and give back to the Misophonia Association.

Two years ago we attended the Misophonia Conference in Chicago and it was truly life changing. Jaxon bonded with misophones of all ages and shared a small slice of his story in front of 200 people.

At the conference, Jaxon heard about a boy that was too embarrassed to come. So, he made a card entitled, "You are not alone" and had all the kids sign it. He gave it to the boy's mom. She cried, happy tears.

Thank you all. Your support and compassion is immeasurable and appreciated more than words can describe.
