Our precious grandson Jaxson had a grand mal seizure, just 2 days before his 4th birthday. He was then flown by Stars to Grande Prairie, then again to the Stollery Children's Hospital in Edmonton. This led to the discovery of connected tumors in his brain. On August 2, 2016 he had a 7 hour brain surgery to remove the tumor that caused the seizure. When the pathology came back, our worst nightmare became a reality and Jaxson was diagnosed with Atypical Extra Ventricular Neurocytoma, an extremely rare form of brain cancer. Only 9 weeks later on October 5, 2016 Jaxson had his second brain surgery to remove what they could. 10 gruelling hours long. His team did the best they could but were not able to remove everything, and the residual stayed stable on its own until 5 months at his next scan on March 30, 2017. His MRI showed there was a new growth and again it needs to be removed.
Jaxson will have his 3rd surgery late April and once he is healed he will go to Jacksonville, Florida for proton radiation treatment, with the highest of hopes this will stop the cells from multiplying. My daughter Krissy and her husband Kenny along with Jaxson have a long, hard road ahead. A road no child or parent should ever have to face. Kenny is the sole provider for this family, and will need to be with them to support this journey for 8 weeks at least. He , along with my wife at some point, will also be flying to Jacksonville and Kennys expenses are not covered by any medical. Either is their youngest, two year old son Kasen who will also be going since 6 weeks is a long time to be away from his family. We are hoping to take the burden off of Kenny so he is able to be with his son and wife as they undergo treatment, and win their fight for Jaxson, once and for all.
