Jay Anthony Drummond

On Sunday 5th November 2023 at 8:30am my world collapsed. My fiancée Jay Drummond was out wake-boarding on Lake Eildon, something he had done since he was a kid, when he came off his board into the water.

As we came back around in the boat for Jay, he was face down in the water. As we pulled him into the boat, I called 000. Getting back to shore the boys pulled him from the boat and started CPR with the 000-operator. For 45 minutes we tried to keep Jay alive waiting for the paramedics to take over. Once they arrived, they took over and tried everything they could, but Jay could not be revived and was pronounced dead on site.

Jay was only 28 years old. We had just started our business in July 2023, and it had just started to make traction, we just celebrated our 5-year anniversary, and we were just about ready to sell our house and buy our dream place on acreage with our wedding booked for Oct 2024 with kids planned to follow.

Jay had a kind soul and had time for anyone. He loved the simple things in life whether that was heading out bush by the river for a couple nights just us, or in the back yard having a couple jameisons by the fire pit or most of the time tinkering in the shed with his fire going and music on and as he would say 'building something cool'.

This was a tragic accident that we still have no answers on. Jay was taken so suddenly and never regained consciousness. We never got to say our goodbyes or tell each other we loved each other one last time. As I sat with him kissing and holding his lifeless hand, I asked the universe why they would be so cruel. I never in my nightmares imagined our weekend planned for so much fun and adventure would turn into me facing life without my soulmate by my side, my heart is shattered.
