Jay Dignam Fundraiser

Hi,

My name is Matthew Largey, I’ve set this Go Fund Me up for a good friend who was taken from us much sooner than he should’ve been, Jay Dignam.

My aim is to raise as much money as I can to give to his two daughters, to help support them through this truly heartbreaking time.

Jay was only 50 when he unexpectedly passed away, leaving behind two daughters – Milly, 18 and Scarlet, 10. Jay was a brilliant example of a man who had a big heart, endless skills under his belt when it came to doing any form of manual labour work, a huge love for bikes and a passion for helping anyone and everyone he could. It was clear to everyone who met him that his love for his two daughters, Milly and Scarlet massively outweighed his love for anything else!

From my memories of Jay he would jump at the opportunity to

get his tools out and get stuck in to helping people with any jobs they had going on anywhere and anytime, if there were any problems, Jay and his tools were sure to be there! Jay spent his life in Blackley and had many jobs throughout his life, all jobs were completely different from one another which allowed him to gain such a vast set of skills – he was the handiest of handy men that you could have the pleasure of meeting! Jay was quite a private man, but he was widely known for his kind nature and all the help and support he had provided to many. Jay came into mine and my family’s lives many years ago, the first time we met him was when he was speaking to my Mum about brain tumours. Jay had recently recovered from going through the trauma of having one and my Mum had not long begun the process of being diagnosed with one. I remember Jay fixing my quad bike for me when I was 13 and here he was 20 years later, helping me set up the café that we opened only a week ago! He helped with the plumbing, electrics and the carpentry making sure we got the place in the best shape possible; I’ll forever be grateful for Jay and the

decades of support, advice and time spent with him. Jay and my brother, Stu used to go out on their bikes, this is Stu’s favourite memory with Jay. Stu recalls how Jay would treat everyone to a WKD after a day on the bikes, Jay and his friend Skinner built jumps

at the back of our old house just behind texaco off Rochdale Road for biking days and kids to enjoy and it's still in use now! Stu would laugh about how Jay was as fit as a fiddle, and how Stu was 15 years younger than Jay, but he still couldn’t keep up with him! Jay’s passing has devastated so many people – myself and my family included.

I can’t imagine how heartbroken his young daughters are, anything donated to the page is truly

appreciated and will go straight to his girls.
