We are still about $1,100 away from our goal that will allow all of Jay's children and siblings to attend his burial and memorial service. It would really mean a lot to all of us to be able to be together as we say our goodbyes.

As his children and siblings prepare to honor Jay with final resting place of his choosing, there are travel expenses that many involved cannot afford. It would mean the world to all of us t be able to be there to honor him and to support each other. For some, this is in integral part of the grieving process.

Jay McCarty, father, grandfather, brother and sailor passed away at his home in Florence, Oregon. Jay was only 55 years old.
Jay cherished his family above all, spending as much time as possible teaching them to hunt, fish, work hard, and live their dreams to the fullest. Jay never met a stranger, only friends he hadn't made yet. He loved Vikings football, golf, cooking amazing meals for family and friends, the beach and serving his country.
Jay served in the United States Navy from 1981-2001. As a hospital Corpsman. Jay did tours though Desert Storm, Desert Shield and Somalia. Duty stations including: Australia, New Zealand, Saudi Arabia, Antartica, San Diego, 29 Palms, Hawaii and Millington. Jay proudly retired from the Navy in 2001 as a Senior Chief.
Jay continued to show his dedication to the military through his involvement with the VFW and various Charity organizations.
Jay is survived by his children Ryan Thomas McCarty, Oregon; Joshua Scott McCarty, Oregon; Matthew Alexander McCarty, Oregon; Savanna Nicole McCarty, Tennessee; his grandsons Zayden McCarty and Carson McCarty. He is also survived by his siblings DeeMaris Buckingham, Minnesota; Lori Nelson; California; Kelly Opperude, North Dakota; Wendy McCarty, North Dakota and Patrick McCarty, North Dakota. He was preceded in death by his parents Jack and DeeMaris McCarty, his paternal grandfather and maternal grandparents.
May he rest in eternal peace.
