Jay Spencer's Heart Attack Medical bills

Donation protected
Hello, my name is Becky, and as most of you know, my dad Jay had a massive heart attack that nearly killed him on July 21, 2021. He was driving his truck, helping a friend get to an appointment when it happened.  While unconscious, his friend steered the vehicle out of traffic and only to have the truck flip. His friend called 911, and when the paramedics showed up they performed CPR for him for 10 mins to get a heartbeat back. The paramedics intubated him and rushed him to the ER, amazingly he was pretty much already there since that’s where he was taking his friend for her appointment.  While in the ER, he had a code blue, thankfully they got his heart beating again but he was still in critical condition and had become comatose.  Dad was life-flighted him to Harborview, where he could receive the advanced care he needed and he made it through the night. Doctors performed a Coronary Angiogram early the next morning to find that his Circumflex and Left Anterior descending arteries were blocked (also known as a widow maker). The surgeon put one stent in while he was in the coma and he remained in that state for a week.  He slowly started to wake up, but that started more issues. He had some delirium and gall bladder issues and still had to have that 2nd stent put in. After a month of being at Harborview, he was cleared to go to a skilled nursing facility for continuing care and physical therapy. He left for the skilled nursing facility in August and was there until the week of Thanksgiving when he was finally released. This now leads to all the bills coming in from: three hospitals, a handful of doctors, the skilled nursing facility, Life-Flight, ambulance providers ...etc.

We have sorted through all of dad’s bills, we’ve determined what the VA and Medicare will pay and have either paid or set up payment plans for the uncovered portions of all bills except one.  The skilled nursing facility was only covered by Medicare (not the VA) and the portion paid by Medicare was small due to the fact that he had to be there for so long.  This bill has been giving dad some anxiety. He is on a limited income and just replaced his car so he has transportation to get to his appointments without relying on Chad and me. The skilled nursing facility wants the over $13,000 owed to them now. He can make payment arrangements, and we are working that out, but they still want it paid in 3 years, which makes the payment out of his reach. We are trying to develop a way to help take some of this burden from him.  If Chad and I had the money ourselves we would pay it off for him, but we don't. This is where I thought a Gofundme could be helpful. If we could raise even enough money to help with payments or pay for part of this stay, it would greatly help Dad and would be so appreciated. So, if you can spare anything, please think about helping my dad out. We are so happy he is still with us today, but I don't want this stress to get to him. Thank you for reading our story
