Jay's Memorial Fund

On January 7th, Jay passed away peacefully at the Mandrin Inpatient Care Center in Harwood, MD. In Jay's short 61 years, he lived a full, passionate life. He loved his family and friends, the Steelers (maybe above all), grilling, classic rock and metal, the bay, and of course the Don and Mike Show. Jay was sarcastic and fun loving, and served our country in the Navy. Jay worked hard, and played hard, and had innumerable friends with him along for the ride. I know Jay will be greatly missed by all!
I have known Jay for most of my life – over 30 years. As his step-daughter, Brandi’s best friend, I spent many, many days – and nights as a child hanging out with the family, watching his daughter Lyndsey grow from a toddler to a mother herself, and his step-son John relish with Jay in Steeler glory. We cheers’d together at Brandi’s wedding and my own, celebrated together on New Year’s, and I’d give him a shoulder punch to congratulate him on any Pittsburgh team win. I know Jay lived a full life, but I’m saddened knowing that Cathy, his wife of 33 years, is a widow and will have to go on and start over without him.
Since many people have asked how they can help, this page has been set up to collect donations to help the family take care of Jay's medical bills, his cremation, his celebration of life (to be held in the spring), and to help Cathy with getting settled after the loss of Jay’s income. Please consider making a donation - and posting a memory of Jay.
All funds collected will be withdrawn by Cathy.
Cheers to the big guy in heaven! Rock On in Peace, Jay!

"...And as we wind on down the road
Our shadows taller than our soul
There walks a lady we all know
Who shines white light and wants to show
How everything still turns to gold
And if you listen very hard
The tune will come to you at last
When all are one and one is all
To be a rock and not to roll
And she's buying the stairway to heaven"
