Jay's Journey to James Beard
Donation protected
Jay Ducote has been invited to cook an LSU Tailgate Party themed dinner at the world-renowned James Beard House in NYC. The dinner will be on July 21, 2016. He needs your help to get there!
James Beard is considered to be one of the founders of American cuisine. As a pioneering celebrity chef, he sought to distinguish food from across the USA as being our cuisine, rather than European, Asian or wherever it got its influence. Today, the James Beard Foundation carries on his legacy by preserving and celebrating American foodways. The annual James Beard Awards are the Oscars of the culinary world. The James Beard Foundation's mission is to celebrate, nurture, and honor America's diverse culinary heritage through programs that educate and inspire.

To get invited to cook at the James Beard House is a true honor. The house, where Mr. Beard actually lived, is an unassuming brownstone in Greenwich Village. Select chefs from around the country get the rare invitation to cook in his kitchen, and when it comes, they don't dare pass it up.
As a tribute to its contribution to American culinary heritage, Jay Ducote has been selected to cook a dinner at the James Beard House which reflects the cuisine of an LSU Tailgate Party. In going to New York, Jay will be representing Louisiana and its foodways on a national platform.
Any donations made will help defray the costs of making the trip to NYC and help raise money for the James Beard Foundation. Jay and his team will be driving and flying to New York City with all of the Louisiana ingredients necessary to pull off the dinner for 80 people. We are estimating that between food and drink costs, travel and lodging costs and other expenses, the trip will wind up costing around $10,000.
Every donation helps, big and small. For those who might be interested in sponsorship of the trip at $500, $1000 and $2500 levels, please email message us.
