Our family first met Jaylen in the fall of 2017. My son and Jaylen were teammates on an all star football team. After one of the practices in late November, my son noticed Jaylen didn’t have a coat. My son had his mother take him to buy Jaylen a new coat. Since that evening Jaylen has been a close friend of my son’s.
Jaylen’s dream has always beento follow in the footsteps of his older cousin, to study and play football at Bishop Miege High School. My son and another all star teammate also attend Bishop Miege, and Jaylen desperately wanted to go with his buddies and have the opportunity to continue to play.
In 2018, we tried to get Jaylen into the school, but because of family circumstances he did not attend 8th grade. Jaylen's mother has 8 children, and hehad to stay home to care for the younger ones while she worked. Furthermore, he had no reliable transportation to and from school. Because of the family situation, Jaylen had to attend public school for a year. Despite missing all of 8th grade, he still successfully finished his freshman year of high school!
This year Jaylen called me and asked if could help him get into Bishop Miege; my kids, their mother, and I all decided we would do whatever it takes to assist Jaylen and to see him realize his dream and potential. He has been living with my kids and their mom all summer. He hasn’t missed one practice or workout session.
Jaylen was recently accepted and enrolled into Bishop Miege! I have set up this fund in order to assist Jaylen beyond high school and maintain him while in our care. I humbly ask you to help us help Jaylen realize his potential-he is part of our family, a son to us. We are all willing to do whatever is required to see him achieve his goals and succeed both academically and athletically at Bishop Miege High School and beyond. He now has a safe and stable home, a routine, transportation, and a support structure. With all this in place- he will achieve! Please help us continue to support Jaylen as he works to live his dream and be an example for his siblings.
