Jaylen Chalker

Jaylen Chalker is the 14 year old daughter of Jenni and Jamey Chalker residing in my hometown of Swainsboro, Georgia.  She also has family that attends the Believer's Bible Fellowship where my Dad is the pastor.

On July 25, Jaylen went to the doctor with a sore throat which led to the diagnosis of  AML Leukemia.  She is currently admitted for Chemotherapy in Augusta University Health Children's Hospital.  Additionally, she will be receiving a bone marrow transplant in Atlanta at a later date.

I also want to take a second to let you know why this fundraiser is very personal to me.  In 2005, my little sister went into the dentist for a canker sore on her tongue.  She was diagnosed with stage four cancer and passed away less than a year later.  At the time, I was serving in Iraq with the U.S. State Department.  

Much like myself, Jaylen's father Jamey is both a military Veteran and a Firefighter.  He is currently a Firefighter with The Swainsboro Fire Department.  Jaylen's mother Jenni is a stay at home mother to their 4 children.

When my Mom shared Jaylen and her family's story with me, I felt that we could all come together to support this family.  From my family's own experience, I know that the expenses for this will extend beyond medical bills.  Just to name a very few; there will be travel, fuel, and lodging expenses that will allow the family to be with Jaylen for extended time periods as she fights through her treatment.
