Please help support Jaylen Christopher Hill

Jaylen Christopher Hill was a 15-year-old young boy with so much life to live! He was a loving son, an amazing big brother, a respectful student and a talented athlete, to name a few. He enjoyed spending time with his family and recently traveled to KOA Campgrounds in Monroe County, Michigan. Everyone enjoyed the campgrounds, swimming, laughing, playing games and spending quality time with loved ones. As the day went on, family members noticed they hadn’t seen Jaylen for a short period. They notified police immediately that Jaylen was missing, and everyone began to search the pond and campgrounds. A dive team arrived within minutes of the call as Jaylen’s last known location was the swimming pond. In no time, an expert diver dived into the pond and within minutes was able to locate Jaylen and bring him to the surface. He was then rushed to Toledo Hospital. Despite the best efforts put in by the medical staff, there was no sign of improvement, and he was pronounced deceased shortly after. There was nothing no one could do to bring him back.
He gained his wings on July 23, 2022, at such a young age, and this tragedy has been tremendously hard for his parents. No one plans on burying their child, and it is both emotionally and financially devasting. They still cannot believe or process the absolute confusion of this life-changing event. His tragic and sudden death has taken a significant toll on the family, particularly his parents, Selma and Christopher, and siblings. The family is currently asking for donations to help with funds to cover the funeral service cost. In honor of Jaylen's tragic passing, we ask that you please donate whatever you can to support his parents as they are dealing with something a parent never wants to imagine: the death and burial of a child. No donation is too small.
Since Jaylen's death, I have researched a few things, and there are two facts I would like every parent to know.
- The first is that drowning is the second leading cause of injury deaths of infants and children younger than 15 years old in the United States.
- Secondly, after our tragedy, I've learned that it only takes 30 seconds for a child to drown and that drowning is often completely silent. It does not look like it does on TV. There are no splashes or noises to indicate that it is happening. It happens almost entirely underneath the water line. But no one knows this. So I ask that you please bring awareness to water safety, especially to young children, as swimming is an activity every child enjoys!
Please note while the family has organized this campaign, all funds are intended to and will go directly towards the cost of funeral services for Jaylen Christopher Hill. The family appreciates every donation and prayer during this difficult time. Funeral arrangements are being made and will be shared as soon as they are available.
