Jaylin and his family
Donation protected
Hi! My name is Elizabeth Lucero. I am a special education teacher, and I am fundraising for a former student. His name is Jaylin. Jaylin has something called CRMO. CRMO is Chronic recurrent multifocal osteomyelitis (CRMO) causes abnormal inflammation to occur in and around the bones. Symptoms usually begin in childhood but can occur at any age. Symptoms may include episodes of pain and joint swelling, skin redness, and sometimes a fever. In some cases, CRMO leads to abnormal bone growth, bone deformity, and fractures. CRMO may occur alone or with other skin or bowel inflammation conditions. In rare cases, CRMO occurs as part of one of these genetic syndromes: Majeed syndrome, DIRA or PAPA syndrome. The cause of CRMO is unknown, but a genetic influence is thought to be involved. Diagnosis of CRMO is based on the symptoms, clinical exam, and imaging studies. Other more common conditions may need to be excluded before a diagnosis of CRMO can be made. It is extremely rare, with less that 5000 people in the United States with this diagnosis.
Jaylin has been out of school since January. This is an exceptionally bad flare-up, causing tremendous pain for Jaylin. Jaylin was hospitalized after he became septic and his organs began to shut down. He currently is at home and has pneumonia. He is receiving round-the-clock care from doctors, nurses, social workers, childcare workers and chaplains. I am asking for these funds to help defray the medical expenses for this family. I know the family would appreciate any help you feel led to give.
