Jayme Dyer Medical Expenses

Hi, my name is Savannah Dyer and I’m fundraising for my thirteen-year-old sister, Jayme Dyer, and our family. On November 27, 2023 we found a large tumor at the base of Jayme’s skull. After connecting with a doctor from UCSF, concerns have risen that we may be looking at a very rare case of cancer.

At this point, Jayme has already had multiple scans and tests run and has appointments for future ones to be done. Since finding out, as more scans are done, things have been rapidly sped up. Our family has had to be quite flexible to fit in appointments as needed. At this point, the tests are urgent and need to be performed to pinpoint what course of treatment is needed. As of right now, she has a biopsy in two to three weeks that will be done in the Bay Area (either at the Oakland or San Fransico facility). Surgery will also need to be performed to remove as much of the tumor as possible. Due to the location of the tumor, they will not be able to get it all because of surrounding nerves. It is in a very sensitive place and pressing on many different things. She will need to have radiation and/or chemotherapy to combat the part of the tumor that can’t be removed.

She also has a scan coming up this week to check her spine for more growths. There is also a cyst on her vocal chord so she will have an ENT on her medical team. Originally she had a pediatric doctor from UCSF but an adult neurosurgeon was brought onto the team as of yesterday 12/1.

I’m setting up this fund because we don’t know what the future holds or what the coming days look like for Jayme. Because of the rarity and severity of the diagnosis, appointments and emergency actions could be needed at any moment. We could have to travel down to the Bay at a moment's notice.

My family needs to focus on Jayme right now and not the stresses of financial burdens that are inevitable. I have had many, many people reach out asking what they could do to help and I believe that this would be an amazing and very appreciated start.
