Are you obsessed with Jazz Pierre? .... DUH
Do you hate insurance companies? ... OH YES
Hi there
Morgan (they/he), Sunday (they/them), and Brynn (she/her) here.
To no one’s surprise, the insurance companies have once again failed us. We won't name which company because unlike them, we have a strong moral center...it's Kaiser.
This time they've REALLY pissed us off because it was our dear friend and a beloved member of our community who they've turned their shameless tactics on. The long and short of it is that originally they assured Jazz that they would indeed cover her FFS surgery and after a year of tap dancing her talented tush through every d*amn hoop they asked of her (as one does for insurance coverage), it turns out they would actually *not* be covering the surgery. Surprise!!!!
So that's the rub but this isn't our first rodeo with insurance companies and they don't stand a chance against us because we're Transes with a plan!
We're throwing a fundraising premiere for Jazz's short film writing debut, Call Me Olympian, to raise funds for our sweet, conservatory-trained, Jazz and her FFS surgery.
Call Me Olympian is a satirical ensemble comedy about one trans woman's journey to world domination via the Olympics. ️⚧️

Story Time
If you haven’t met Jazz, there are some things you should know…Jazz is the type of person who (if you’re lucky enough) walks into your life by happenstance and your life is forever changed. She doesn’t set out to change lives, that’s just how it works with her, she’s THAT person. The world’s a brighter place because she’s in it. She’s an optimist with the biggest heart and she’s the kindest friend you could ever hope to know. She is immensely devoted to her community.
A Message from Jazz
“Accessing gender-affirming care can be like running a marathon! It doesn’t happen overnight. It takes a lot of time and perseverance. It can be painful and hard a lot of the time but you know that you must keep going to reach your goal. I’ve been fighting to get gender-affirming surgeries for the last 5 years and to say that it’s been difficult is a serious understatement.
A lot of ‘life’ got in the way of my transition journey. I have been unfortunate enough to have lost my insurance three time before so this is my 4th attempt with a different insurance provider. I’ve been down this road so many time before and each time it gets harder to fight. This is not the first time the insurance company has turned around at the last moment to say that they actually won’t be covering anything. It’s heartbreaking. Except this time, I’m not turning around and I will not stop running towards my goal!
Of course, this would all be impossible without the humans that surround me. I’m grateful everyday for you! With their love and support, I’m asking for help!”
What does the 15k cover you ask? Let’s fill you in!
Surgeries are EXPENSIVE. Out of pocket expenses add up, taking time off work to recover costs you money, and rent doesn’t stop coming for anybody. Even the anesthesia becomes an out of pocket cost a lot of the time!! And that’s … pretty important.
Here’s a breakdown of what your donation is covering:
- FFS surgery
- Anesthesia
- Hospital fees
- Prescriptions
- Aftercare rehabilitation
- Transportation
❤️ Thank you ❤️
We have had the immense honor of having Jazz in their lives for many years, and if you’ve had the pleasure of meeting her, you know how special this human is. We want to thank YOU for helping take care of our incredible Jazz. It's your generosity that's going to make Jazz's FFS surgery a reality. This world is a brighter place because of her, and today it’s extra bright because of you too.
Love,
