Alaska Mission Trip!

Dear Family and Friends,
I pray that you and your family are doing well. My world is going great! I graduated in December and I am now working on my Master’s Degree here at Wayland Baptist University. I am still going to try to play football in the fall if my back can heal up. I am not worried though because I know that God will take care of everything. I have always tried to spread the love and grace of Jesus Christ and this summer I am going to get a wonderful opportunity to do that. In June, I will be traveling with Wayland FCA (Fellowship of Christian Athletes) to Soldotna, Alaska. We will be running a football camp and volleyball camp while spreading the good news of Christianity. This is something I am thrilled about because I get to combine two very important things in my life; my faith and football.
Wayland provides a $500 scholarship to anyone going on a mission trip, which is an amazing gift. I feel very lucky to go to a school where sharing my faith is encouraged. However, the total cost of the trip is going to be at least $1800. I am writing this asking for prayer and any financial support that you can provide. I was not sure how to write this letter because I did not know how to ask for money, but I hope it is obvious that I am not asking for myself, but instead for those who do not know Jesus.
The discovery channel has done a great job of showing the true beauty of Alaska, but many do not know the spiritual condition of this place. Less than 9% of the state population is associated with the Christian Church. The state’s suicide rate is 9 times that of the national average, with some areas 200 times that mark. The state says 1/3 of all children deal with sexual abuse, but the elders say that number is closer to 100%. These are the reasons we are going. I thank all of you for your love and support whether financially or through prayer!
Thank you again,
Joshua Bailey
