Help Tammy Fight

Hi. I'm Karen. Tammy is my Mom. I'm not really sure how to put all of what has happened in the past month into words but I will try.

We all wake up day after day and go about our lives like usual. Sometimes even taking those days for granted. Then suddenly we get blindsided by the unexpected.... illness. We hope for the best and have faith that everything will be okay but then reality hits. After a ten day stay in the hospital, multiple procedures, blood draws, CT scans, MRI's, etc, the diagnosis hits us all like a freight train. The doctors tell us what we already knew but didn't want to believe... it's cancer. It's in her pancreas and liver. It's terminal... "She has less than five months without treatment. Twelve to fourteen months with treatment."

My Mom had the option to not fight but that just isn't her. She fought like hell back in 1998 for several years as she battled stage 3 breast cancer. She has made the choice to fight this cancer too.

She is mad as hell that she can't work. She is just too ill and needs to keep her strength for chemo treatments to fight the cancer. Along with that comes a lot of worry about bills, treatment costs, unexpected hospital stays and the part that no one likes talking about... planning what happens next. Health insurance only covers a certain percentage of Mom's procedures and treatment. We are doing all we can to make sure she is taken care of but sometimes we need a little help. We're hoping and praying for a miracle. Any amount helps whether it’s $5 or $50.
