JBCF Foundation: A Home for CF Families in Dublin

I recently had the opportunity to learn more about a wonderful initiative in Ireland by the Julian Benson Cystic Fibrosis Foundation: to develop an accommodation facility in Dublin where a family member can stay, whilst their loved one is receiving treatment for Cystic Fibrosis (CF) in hospital.

In Ireland, CF is a battle faced by many families. With extended hospitalisation periods, many Irish families face a long daily commute from across the country to support their loved one at St. Vincent’s Hospital in Dublin (The National Referral Hospital for Cystic Fibrosis in Ireland).

I would like to use my platform as Miss County Dublin to shine a light on it. I am sure many of us can connect in some way to CF... Whether it be through personal experience, a family member, a friend, or community member. I would like to support this important community initiative and contribute to the cause however we can.

On their official fundraiser page, Julian Benson writes, "This is a crucial facility for parents, spouses, siblings and the children of the CF patient, at a most vulnerable time of stress and worry. This accommodation will allow the family member to be close to the hospital, enabling them to spend precious quality time with their families."

Any donations raised will go directly towards the renovation of the house.
