Gillian’s Fight

Gillian Jenkins is an amazing 35 years young Mum Wife Daughter Sister Niece cousin and friend.

Anyone who knows Gillian will tell you how upbeat energetic warm bubbly and positive Gillian is.

Gillian’s social battery is endless always having time for anyone and everyone.

On the 1st January 2023 Gillian was admitted to hospital for headaches vision changes and paralysis her life as she knew it was about to change, and that of her family unit.

After countless scans and test Gillian was diagnosed with stage 4 melanoma affecting the Brain, Lung, Bowel and Kidney and more with a BRAF mutation. And is undergoing treatment at the Peter Mac Institute in Melbourne.

Gillian and Dave are both very private people and hate the idea that this diagnosis may affect how others perceive them. They are not the type of people to ask for handouts or burden others with their problems so going public with Gillian diagnosis is big for them but they know they need help.

At a young age Gillian left her home and family in Nelson Bay NSW and set her sights on Melbourne to take advantage of her career choice hairdressing something she is so passionate about.

During her career Gillian has worked her but off and won a competition to attend Global Zoom in Toronto, And until this diagnosis was a manager at Vanity Hair and Beauty in Melbourne.

In Melbourne where Gillian has flourished and now calls home, she met and fell in love with the love of her life and now husband Dave and instantly became a second Mum to Annabelle and Lachlan then welcoming their own little bundle of joy and energy Thomas.

As you can imagine Gillian and Dave are undergoing a whirlwind of emotions and changes to their daily lives. Gillian’s Mum Vickey regularly visits from Queensland to help with their little boy Thomas but doesn’t really drive due to her own health issues.

Gillian has had to give up work and things have been tight financially, her medications are costly as is travel and parking etc.

We are ask for help so Gillian and Dave can concentrate their energy on extending Gillian’s time with her family and friends without the added worries of money.
