My sister Kendra D. has been diagnosed with Demyelination disease. She lost her job this year and is now very close to losing her home, belongings & her animals. She has applied for SSD (Social Security Disability) of which she has paid into her entire working life. On average, it takes 1 to 2 years for SSD to be approved. Her case worker told her that they have put a rush on things, but as we are all aware the wheels of government run extremely slow.
Let me tell you about my Sister Kendra.
There are people in this world that really truly have a heart for others. Kendra would and has gone without if she sees another in need. On many occasions she didn't even know the person that she had helped.
As long as I can remember, Kendra has wanted a family. But at the age of 29, after suffering from an extreme form of endometriosis since the age of 14, she had to have a full hysterectomy. I saw such a deep sadness enter her life at that time. She doesn't date because she doesn't want to see the reaction to one of the most heart breaking moments of her life reflected in a person she could love.
Now, she is going through another medical scare. February of this year she felt a pop in her brain, along with a weird sensation radiate down her body. She then started shaking with tremors and went numb on her left side.
At 1st the Doctor thought she had a stroke, but the Doctor at the ER didn’t see anything on the CT and sent her home.
Weeks went by and she still had tremors and numbness. Along with trouble walking. Her Doctor referred her to a Neurologist, but she had to wait to see him till the end of May.
While she waited her Doctor had her do an MRI and a spinal tap. The MRI showed 5 lesions on her brain which gave her a half diagnose called Demyelinating disease. Unfortunately there are several disorders that are caused by Demyelinating disease, MS is the main one. Which we honestly thought was what she had, unfortunately, the spinal tap came out clear and MS was marked off the list.
After waiting 3 months to see the Neurologist and then another 3 months to see him again, all he came up with was stress. He thought her demyelinating disease was stress related. We just don’t think he wanted to take the time to figure out what it was. So now my sister is waiting to see another Neurologist, at UW Hospital, but unfortunately her appointment isn’t until 3/20/2015. Once again, she is waiting patiently.
All the while her symptoms get worse. She went from a woman who loved to dance, to a women needing a walker to get around.
My sister is that very rare person, which is good. And when I say good, I mean, deep in her soul good. To know her is an honor that mere words cannot define.
This beautiful soul needs help just until her SSD is approved. Her pride would never allow her to post her needs here on this site, but my love and my feelings of fear for her make it very easy for me to ask strangers.
I hope that her story touches just a few strangers that are willing to help this extraordinary woman out.
Documentation can be supplied so that you know this is not a scam.
Thank you for taking the time to read about Kendra & to those who are able to donate, I thank you most earnestly. And if you were standing right here in front of me, you'd be getting a heart filled hug.
Again, thank you so much,
Kelli
