Jc needs a reliable car

Hi, my name is Cordelia and I am raising funds to help Jc Wordsmith buy a reliable used car. Jc is a longtime advocate for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing community, and dedicated to helping people access language and communication by teaching American Sign Language to parents, friends, and partners of Deaf and HoH people. A kind and generous teacher, Jc also provides support and education to Deaf students who have been marginalized and denied access to their own language.

Jc is a dedicated parent and grandparent who helps their family with transportation and childcare whenever needed. Jc lives in rural Minnesota, in a food desert. The closest grocery store is thirty miles away, and between grocery shopping, errands, and assisting family, Jc can easily drive a few hundred miles a week.

Jc currently drives an 18 year old car that needs extensive repairs. Each trip is a source of stress, with worries about breaking down on the side of a rural highway being exacerbated by the fact that Jc is Deaf and accessing assistance comes with communication barriers.

These are the reasons I am reaching out for help for Jc to buy a more reliable car. Nothing fancy or new, just enough to get them safely where they need to go, and to be able to continue supporting their family and community. Every little bit helps get us closer to our goal.
