JCJ Fundraiser to Benefit The CT Food Bank
Tax deductible
JCJ’s annual community partnership with the CANstruction Program and the 6th grade students at The Gideon Welles School has been cancelled in light of the Coronavirus outbreak.
It’s no secret that the number of Connecticut residents without work or otherwise unable to afford the basic necessity of food continues to climb. Now more than ever our local food banks and those they serve need our help. Before the outbreak, there were 400,000 people in our state borders who were food insecure, 115,000 children among them. In our home city of Hartford, 26% of the population was food insecure in 2018. Again, these numbers do not yet reflect the sudden influx of thousands more families seeking assistance.
We believe it is important for those of us who are able continue assist our greater community during this difficult time.
We believe it is equally important to demonstrate to our Gideon Welles students the true spirit of CANstruction and community - that while circumstances have changed and we can no longer participate in the build, we can adapt and still help to end hunger.
Our baseline goal is to match the annual food donation of $1,300 to $1,500…. but the sky is the limit!
We are asking JCJ's Employee Owners, members of the school community, and others who are able and willing to donate to the cause to please do so, knowing all of your donation directly benefits CT residents who are in need during this time.
Thank you in advance for supporting the cause.
-The JCJ CANstruction Team

More information about Connecticut Food Bank: The mission of Connecticut Food Bank is to provide nutritious food to people in need. We do this by supplying food products to our member agencies, as well as through direct food distribution programs and by promoting public awareness about the problem of hunger.
