Help Lesbian Farmers Have a Baby
Donation protected
The two of us have been vigorously pursuing our future together since 2011. We met through a mutual friend and started our small farm 6 months later. The farm has been a great success but not without our share of blood, sweat and tears. We are excited to start our 4th growing season this year. We got married in June and are now so ready to start our family.
Because we are an unconventional couple, we have to go about conceiving children in an unconventional way. We have decided to go with a known-donor who we hand picked and who is amazing. Our biggest barrier is money. While we are going about this as frugally as we comfortably can, there are lots of legal and medical fees that we cannot get around. Who knew it would be so expensive and complicated! The short of it is that we will need to hire an attorney to write up a "Known Donor Contract" that protects us, our children and the donor, cover the cost of his attorney, pay any other expenses he will incur, plus register with the Directed Donor program (as required by the FDA) and pay the large fees associated with that and the sperm bank. All told, it will cost us around $5,000 to conceive a child, assuming everything goes relatively smoothly.
We are asking for your help to raise the funds we need to start our family. We promise to let you hold the baby...after Bubbe (Grandma) of course :)
