Please Help My Family Keep Our Home!

THE SHORT VERSION:

I'm trying to raise the funds that my family needs to avoid getting evicted once the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention's national eviction moratorium and North Carolina Governor Roy Cooper's statewide eviction moratorium end (on June 30th and July 31st, respectively).

THE LONG VERSION:

My name is Sean Padilla, and I'm a 40-year-old spouse, parent, musician, booking agent, and accountant. I'm the primary breadwinner for a family of five, including two toddlers. Like everyone else I know, we've been hit hard economically by the COVID-19 pandemic.

I lost one of my two full-time jobs due to the pandemic. Once COVID-19 reduced the live music industry to rubble, I was no longer able to book tours for other performing artists. I was able to keep my other job as an accountant, but it wasn't (and still isn't) enough for me to completely support my family. A full third of each paycheck I receive from that job goes straight to health insurance for my family.

I started a Patreon focusing on my music, and my spouse started bringing in more money of their own as a social media influencer. Thanks to these developments, we were able to keep our heads above water financially until the winter. We then applied for numerous local rent relief programs, which helped us stay afloat until this spring.

Last month, I applied for another round of rent relief from local organizations that had received more CARES Act funds and were accepting repeat applications. Unfortunately, this round of applications has kept me in a waiting game; they haven't been denied, but I also haven't received any responses yet.

Meanwhile, the corporation from which we rent our home is putting us through an immense clusterfuck (please pardon my language). Our previous property manager, who was supposed to draft an agreement for us to pay our back rent in installments, quit with no follow-up. I made various phone calls, getting passed around like a hot potato, to see if I could find and talk to his replacement. His replacement eventually signed the agreement but, by that point, a manager at the corporate office told us to either pay the balance in full or vacate by June 30th.

Between not knowing if or when I'll receive more rent relief and not knowing whether or not the corporate bigwigs who DGAF about us will override the local subordinates who want to work with us, I'm on a race against time, and I don't know what else to do. I feel like I have failed in my duty to help keep my family safe and secure, and that's a terrible feeling to have on the onset of Juneteenth AND Father's Day.

I know that I'm not the only person in this position right now, and that you'll probably see A LOT of people do fundraisers like this in the coming months. I have no pride left to swallow, though. I just want to stay in the home that my family and I have lived in for the last five years. Anything you can do to help, be it donations or signal boosts, will be greatly appreciated.
