***Update*** - I had my hysterectomy the first week of March.  It was successful except for a adhesion to my bladder, which caused a bladder hole. I ended up back in the hospital for an additional 2 nights to get rehydrated and had a cystogram to confirm the bladder hole was the cause of my symptoms.  Luckily, the treatment for it was outpatient and I don't need an additional surgery.  I am still going to my hematologist to increase my iron levels, need additional iron infusions.


Hi, my name is Jean Zuniga. For the past two years, I have been struggling with anemia, a condition in which the body lacks the healthy red blood cells it needs to carry enough oxygen to the body’s tissues.

 

Recently, the severity of my condition has required emergency hospital visits for blood transfusions. Last November I received three units of blood, and this past weekend I received four units. I also received iron infusions in between.

 

The primary cause of my severe anemia is a uterine fibroid, and my doctor has recently informed me that the best way to treat it is with a hysterectomy which is scheduled for the end of this month. As a single mom of three barely surviving as it is, I desperately need help paying for my medical expenses.
