On Thursday January 14, 2021 approximately 7:30pm Jeaneth Camacho was tragically killed crossing the street on Mission Blvd in Hayward, CA by a hit-and-run driver.

She was struck by an SUV after making it half way across the intersection, then was immediately struck by another vehicle, that fled the scene.

What makes this tragic loss even more painful was the events leading up to her death.

January 14 was Jeaneth and her husband Elerie's 31st wedding anniversary, and she was buying food, and party favors to celebrate that same evening she was killed.

She called her husband to pick her up at Big Lots, but because they had so many grocery bags, she told him to take the bags home and prepare dinner so they could celebrate when she got back.   Her husband brought the groceries home and began preparing a feast for their anniversary celebration, including Jeaneth's favorite soup.

Jeaneath and her friend then went to the 99 Cent Store to buy some decorations (confetti, "happy anniversary" banner, and other decorations) for their anniversary that night.   She was only a few blocks from her home, but when she crossed Mission Blvd  she was struck by an SUV, thrown into the next lane, and then seconds later another vehicle struck her again and fled the scene.

The bag of decorations were left on the busy street along with her body.  Her friend called authorities and her husband Elerie, who “ran” from his house to the scene and hugged and kissed his wife on the ground, which would be the last time he could.  The California Highway Patrol arrived along with the Fire Department and pronounced her dead at the scene.

Jeaneth was a very caring and loving person.  She worked as a senior caregiver, including patients who were terminally ill.  She is survived by her husband Elerie who lived with Jeaneth in Hayward, and their three daughters in the Philippines.

In fact, they had already discussed plans, just days before this tragic event, to return home to the Philippines because they missed their daughters and other family members so much.

Unfortunately,  her husband will now have to return home by himself, and the remains of his beloved wife Jeaneth.

The family is asking the public's for help with prayers and any donations so they can to cover cremation services, legal assistance, and cost to bring Jeaneth’s remains back to the Philippines.

The California CHP is also asking for public’s help and asked if you witnessed the accident.
