Anyone who knows our mother, Jeanette, knows she is ALWAYS working! She has been selling real estate since we were kids, and she has taken care of thousands of families and friends as they have both bought and sold their homes. As a broker and an agent, she has worked tirelessly for her clients, attorneys, administrative help, co-workers, fellow agents, and all involved in the process. On March 11th, mom felt poorly, and by the following day, she felt so bad she couldn't go to the doctor. Many of our family that is nearby are at risk for things like the flu or COVID-19, and she felt she should drive herself. With great urging from us, she went to her doctor on Friday, March 13th, and tested negative for the flu, but was told she did not qualify for the COVID-19 test because she did not think she had been in contact with anyone who had the virus. Long-story-short, her condition continued to deteriorate, and she was rushed by ambulance to Baptist East in Memphis on Tuesday morning, March 17th. She tested positive for COVID-19, bilateral pneumonia, and was placed in isolation. She is very, very ill. She has great doctors and nurses, and they are treating her with vigilance. My mom has Medicare, thank God, and we are hoping much of her care will be covered, but we know this is just the beginning. My mom has rent to pay, utilities, regular bills, RX bills, and will soon be facing paying for care once she returns home. When my mom stops working, my mom makes $0, there is no sick leave, there is no PTO, and we want to give those who love her an opportunity to help her through this difficult time. We have no idea what to expect or how long this could go on, but we know there are so many who love her and are very concerned about her life (we know because they are calling and texting 24/7! Ha!). Please do not feel any pressure, we just want to be as proactive as we can to keep mom from suffering financial struggle on top of her physical struggle. We will update this page as we have information on mom and more than contributing here, we would love for you to lift her up in your prayers and hold her in your hearts as she battles this wicked virus. It is crushing for us to know the pain she is suffering, and to be so helpless to lessen it in any way. Pray for all of us - all of her family, please! We have asked a financial advisor in our family to handle all of the funds for mom.
