Jeanette McFarland’s Heart surgery
Donation protected
Hi All! I am setting this up for my brother and his beautiful wife, my Suster in law Jeanette.
We have had our world rocked, my sister in law is facing some extreme circumstances at a very young age. Very very unexpected. She has been under tremendous stress, it is a very trying time, and believe that the duress she was feeling, contributed to the unforeseen circumstances. I woke up to 10 texts and 10 missed calls from my mother, only to find out my sister was being transferred down to ogden regional and she had no info to give me other than, she is still not conscious and they had to bring her back!!! I called my brother and he could barely speak as he tried to tell me what happened: On January 12th our plans were to go to our Macie’s) daughters high school dance competition . About 6am, I awoke to my wife(Jeanette) gasping for air, and then she lost consciousness , her heart stopped and the next few minutes seemed like hours . (Darin) I started CPR while he waited for EMS to arrive. We as a family are tremendously grateful to the Brigham City Police and EMS and BE County dispatch for reviving Jeanette, wife of 28 years, mother of 3 children ( Darius, Jaxon and Macie) . She was gone, for at least 10 mins, when the police arrived they took over compressions and tried to shock her heart back twice to no avail, When the EMT arrived they took over and shocked her another two times with the 4th shock bringing her back. They stabilized her and took her to the Brigham city hospital and could immediately see she was in critical condition and they needed to get her to a larger emergency room. The ambulance took her straight to Ogden regional, she was in ICU and wasn’t conscious but combative, they had to put her under because they were afraid she would arrest again, her stats were off the charts. We had NO ANSWERS, NOTHING. For the next week it was touch and go and outcome is still very unknown in the case of cardiac arrest and no oxygen to the brain. The people of Brigham City ER and Ogden Regional ER, Cardiology, Pulmonary, and Neurology worked tiresly completing tests to try and pinpoint the cause of the scary incident. She was in ICU for 4 days 2 of which she was in a a medically induced coma, her body cooled to about 92 degrees in order to heal. When they pulled her off of the meds ( 24 hrs), she had no recollection and was trying to understand what, where, and why. She's suffering from some brain trauma and memory issues and our hope is with time she'll regain both. On top of what is going to be unbelievable hospital bills. She is going to have to have surgery on her heart, there are still no absolute answers but we were told due to this, they feel it necessary to implant a small defibrillater in order to prevent it from happening again and I’f she does go into cardiac arrest again, this would save her life. She is an employee at IRS,right now it’s impossible for her to work, Even if she could return to work its currently on an unpaid status, due to the government shutdown. We have great faith in God and his plan and love for us but are very realistic in the facts that the bills will continue to add up and very concerned with government shutdown and that being their only insurance source that they will get consumed.
This family has faced some very real struggles and have continued to perservere, Darin is back at work and trying to keep up, with a fear that it could happen again and he won’t be there to help her again. They have a strong faith and have an amazing community! THANK YOU to the people that have reached out and taken them food and checked on them! Thank you to Macie’s dance team and parents for loving on her while her family tries to get through this!
Darius tries to come home from school as much as possible but it’s a drive for him... thank you to BYU and coaches for allowing him to be there when needed!
Jaxon is helping in any way he can.
Please pass this along to anyone you know! They are so thankful for all of you!!
