Jeanne, cancer sarcome(utérus)

** CANCER SARCOME (UTÉRUS) **

• La maman de Jeanne, 16 mois, a vite remarqué que sa fille n’allait pas bien. Elle a consulté trois fois à l’urgence avant de la voir transférée à Ste-Justine. Depuis le 27 juillet que la belle petite Jeanne est aux soins intensifs et se bat contre cette maladie. Son état de santé s’est vite détérioré :  les médecins ont dû la mettre sur respirateur et l’intuber à son arrivée, car sa pression et sa respiration n’étaient pas bonnes. Ils ont aussi dû mettre la belle puce dans un coma artificiel pour qu’elle reste calme puisqu’un cathéter a été posé dans son cou pour faire une dialyse. 
  

• Ces évènements n’étaient que le début d’une suite de problèmes. Lors des tests, une infection au niveau de la vessie a été détectée. Jeanne ne faisant plus pipi, une sonde lui a été installée, mais malheureusement, une opération de la vessie sera nécessaire pour l’aider. Cette infection additionnelle ne donne pas le coup de main dont Jeanne a besoin. Bien au contraire, de l’urine a été retrouvée dans ses reins, ce qui lui cause des douleurs. Aujourd’hui, ses reins ne fonctionnent qu’à 20% de leur capacité. Du fentanyl a été prescrit pour soulager un peu la belle cocotte. À ce jour, Jeanne est encore gavée car elle ne peut ni manger ni boire ; il lui arrive encore de vomir ce qui lui est administré. Les parents attendent avec impatience les résultats des tests génétiques qui prendront 4 semaines. Un scan est aussi attendu. 
  

• Du côté de la maman, qui attend présentement son deuxième enfant, une amniocentèse devra être effectuée pour savoir si le bébé a la même maladie. L’avenir de bébé #2 est encore incertain : seuls les nombreux tests à venir nous le diront. 

• Maman et papa sont présentement en arrêt de travail pour accompagner leur belle fille dans cette difficile épreuve. Énormément de choses en suspens pour cette belle famille déboussolée. Les prochaines semaines seront extrêmement difficiles et stressantes. Pouvoir soutenir la famille financièrement pendant ce moment pénible ne serait qu’enlever une petite dose de stress. 

Nos pensées sont de tout coeur avec la famille.

The nephronophthisis you have is a rare disease that will require a kidney transplant. Genetic in origin, it is characterized by a defective concentration of solutes by the kidneys, end-stage renal cystic disease.

16-month-old Jeanne's mother quickly noticed that her daughter was not well. She consulted three times in the emergency room before seeing her transferred to Ste-Justine. Since July 27 that the beautiful little Jeanne is in intensive care and is fighting against this disease. Her condition quickly deteriorated: doctors had to put her on a ventilator and intubate her when she arrived because her pressure and breathing were not good. They also had to put the beautiful flea into an induced coma to keep her calm since a catheter was placed in her neck for dialysis.

These events were only the beginning of a series of problems. During testing, an infection in the bladder was detected. As Jeanne stopped peeing, a catheter was fitted to her, but unfortunately, a bladder operation will be necessary to help her. This additional infection does not provide the helping hand that Jeanne needs. On the contrary, urine was found in his kidneys, which is causing him pain. Today, his kidneys are only functioning at 20% of their capacity. Fentanyl was prescribed to relieve the beautiful casserole a bit. To this day, Jeanne is still force-fed because she cannot eat or drink; he still sometimes vomits what is administered to him. Parents are eagerly awaiting the results of genetic tests which will take 4 weeks. A scan is also expected.

As for the mother, who is currently expecting her second child, an amniocentesis will have to be performed to find out if the baby has the same disease. Baby # 2's future is still uncertain: only the many tests to come will tell.

Mom and dad are currently on sick leave to accompany their daughter-in-law through this difficult ordeal. A lot of things pending for this beautiful confused family. The next few weeks will be extremely difficult and stressful. Being able to support the family financially during this trying time would only take a little stress off.
