Jeanne's Dream Team Support Fund
Donation protected
Jeanne Murray is the mother of my closet friend, Cassandra Grabhorn. On August 1, 2019, Jeanne was involved in a significant bike accident leaving her with a C5-6 spinal cord injury.
Jeanne recently retired at the beginning of the summer from her career as a 1st grade Milwaukee Public School teacher. She was thoroughly excited for this next chapter in her life and had big plans including being hopeful to travel with her family. Jeanne has an affinity for fitness, participating in many local exercise classes and biking throughout the Milwaukee area. She had the accomplishment of biking 100 miles in a single day the week before her accident.
Unexpectedly, Jeanne was in a bike accident traveling ~25 mph when she collided with a UPS truck. She immediately lost feeling in her legs and was transferred to Froedtert Hospital where she had a five hour surgery involving a cervical spine fusion and decompression to vertebrae C4-C7.
Jeanne remains in the Neurological ICU at Froedtert and continues to have no movement in her legs and minimal movement in her arms as she is unable at this time to control her hands and movement of the triceps. She has ongoing respiratory/breathing needs and has begun her long journey of Occupational Therapy, Physical Therapy, and Speech Therapy.
I was able to spend the day of Jeanne's surgery with her and Cassandra and could see first hand how quickly a community was forming to support Jeanne and her family and friends. Individuals have been asking how to assist. If you so choose, a donation would be greatly appreciated to contribute to the immediate financial burden the injury will have as Jeanne remains admitted to the hospital and in preparation for her ongoing rehabilitation and the medical bills to follow.
With the unpredictable nature of this injury, no contribution is too small and will be immensely appreciated. Jeanne and her family have also greatly felt the positive thoughts, kind words, and prayers being sent in their regard. Please continue to keep them in your thoughts and prayers.
Please feel free to share this fundraiser with family and friends and ask for positive thoughts and prayers. You have all brought comfort in such a difficult time to Jeanne and her family and they are already forever grateful.
I will continue to post updates in the comment section of the fundraiser as I receive them from Cassandra and Jeanne so you can watch the amazing progress we know Jeanne is going to make!
