Hello my name is Susan Brown and I’m trying to help raise money for expenses that will go to Jeff and Leah Lick as they do not have health insurance. Jeff is self employed and due to her own health issues Leah is unable to work.
I’ve known Jeff and Leah since middle school, they are definitely high school sweethearts.
Life has dealt them some pretty rotten luck lately.
Over the 4th of July weekend Jeff and his boys set trusses on their future home they were building. On this particular day they had put the last rafter up, took a break before starting the sheeting. Within 5 minutes it all came crashing down. Every rafter totaling over $20,000 was was on the floor of the house in a broken up pile.
After waiting 3 months to hear from insurance they got the dreadful answer “no” insurance would not cover it due to having the wrong insurance policy.
As if that was not enough on October 8, 2023 Jeff and Leah, out of the kindness of their hearts, adopted 2 horses that were in need of a new home.
Rosie, one of the horses had a deep stomach wound that Jeff was trying to doctor until the vet could get there. Rosie spooked and kicked Jeff in the face.
He was taken to the hospital with many broken bones in his face along with his orbital socket behind his eye. At that time he had no vision as blood had built up at the bottom and behind the eye, a choroidal rupture behind his eye which can cause permanent sight issues.
Jeffs broken bones in his face will be addressed later once the sight issues are resolved.
Until all the swelling is down it won’t be known if anything can be reconstructed.
As of today Jeff has only blurred eye sight and is in extensive pain.
It will be a long road to recovery and outrageous medical bills.
Jeff and Leah Will appreciate any help they can get.
On behalf of Jeff and Leah Lick we thank you so much.
