Jeff Hanna Triple J’s BBQ Memorial Fund

During the early morning hours of Saturday, May 15th, 2021, we lost a friend, a husband, a father, and a “Brother in Smoke“, Jeff Hanna. Much too soon, Jeff left many friends, family, and community members to mourn, most importantly, his wife of 29 years, Lisa Hanna, and 3 sons.

Jeff was well known within the Manitoba barbecue community, whether it was through competing, learning the skills of the trade, and supporting and cheering on his fellow “brothers”. Jeff’s heart and soul shined bright within his very own barbecue restaurant in St. Malo - Triple J’s BBQ, which he ran with his wife, Lisa Hanna. A week before his unexpected passing, the couple opened an ice cream shop adjacent to Triple J’s, a project that kept Jeff busy for many months, but made him feel hopeful and excited for a busy and successful summer season.

This last year has been a tough one on Jeff and Lisa, as they struggled month after month to keep Triple J’s doors open throughout the COVID-19 pandemic. Triple J’s didn’t qualify for any of the small business grants and funding provided by the governments, which made keeping their doors open even more difficult. But Jeff’s passion is the reason why they made it through these tough months. With the recent grand opening of their ice cream shop “Triple J’s Fire & Ice”, Jeff and Lisa both thought they would finally see the light at the end of this financially difficult tunnel. They were both hopeful for having two successful running businesses this upcoming summer.

As one would imagine, the upcoming costs that the Hanna family will now have to face will not be easy, especially during a pandemic. A few of Jeff’s “Brothers in Smoke” have gathered together to form this GoFundMe page to offer some assistance for Lisa and family during this difficult time.

Blue Haze Barbecue in Beausejour, Manitoba and Oma’s Down Home Cooking in St. Pierre Jolys have also set up donation boxes at their establishments, with 100% of those proceeds going to the Hanna family as well.

We want to thank you all in advance for all of your support, donations, and kind words during this time. Lisa is not one to ask for help in a time of need, which is why we wanted to do this for her and the rest of the Hanna and Triple J’s family.
