Jeff & Lisa's Harvey Recovery Fund

My brother, Jeff Elsey, and his family lost everything but the clothes on their backs August 27 due to Hurricane Harvey and the catastrophic flooding in Dickinson, TX. They awoke in the early hours of Sunday morning to find water rising in their home so fast they did not have time to get anywhere but their attic, where they watched their whole life literally sink beneath the waters until help finally arrived around 1pm. We are thankful they escaped with their lives, their dogs, and even the kids’ Guinea pig, but they are left with nothing else.
In their words, posted on Facebook 8/27 at 11pm, “We are truly blessed to have not lost a single living soul to Harvey! We will rise our voices and praise His Holy Name! Keep us in your prayers, love to all.”
This tragedy is especially heartbreaking because my brother lost everything once before when his home burned to the ground. Since then he has worked hard to rebuild his life, settling down in Dickinson where he could be close to work (and even enjoy a little fishing). Through all the hardships my brother has endured in his life, and there have been plenty, he has remained kind and selfless with an enduring sense of humor. Just this year, after a long and exhausting process, he and his wife, Lisa finally achieved their dream and adopted 2 foster children who desperately needed a loving family. As with many cases, life for these kids has been nothing but traumatic. In the short time they have been in their forever home, Jeff and Lisa have shown them what it means to be part of a real family. Losing everything now, just as life was looking up for them is beyond heart wrenching.
There is no lack of love to help this family heal, but any help with funds to get life back on track would be greatly appreciated. Any money raised in this campaign will go to helping Jeff and Lisa piece their life back together and re-build the home their children so desperately need.
For transparency, my name is Lauren Chiuminatto, and I have been in direct contact with my brother and his family since early Sunday morning. They are safe with a friend, but rain is still falling! I live in San Antonio, where we were very lucky to miss the devestation.
THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR ANY HELP YOU CAN GIVE <3
