Jeff Triffitt Memorial
Donation protected
This year we lost a former teammate and very dear friend, Jeffrey Ian Triffitt, or "Bumpy" as he was known to the many he came in contact with during his years at the Old Launcestonians Football Club from 1982 to 1985.
A superbly gifted sportsman, the OL's were fortunate Bumpy found his way to Bethune Park in 1982 as a fresh faced school leaver, where he quickly made his home on the wing, in what would ultimately be the 1982 A Grade State Premiership Team.
More than just a talented footballer, Jeff's laid-back attitude and love of life and laughter made him a favorite among the OL's community both on and off the field.
He was a great footballer and a great friend.
In the weeks since Jeff's passing, a small group of his former teammates have driven discussions with the football club and the Triffitt family about how best we can honor his memory in a meaningful way.
Such was Jeff's impact both on and off the field in his first year with the OL's, it seemed a natural fit for the annual Best First Year Player award to be named in his honor.
With the endorsement of both the Triffitt Family and the Old Launcestonians Football Club Committee, we are very pleased that from this year, and in perpetuity, the Best First Year Player at the Old Launcestonians Football Club will be awarded the Jeff Triffitt Memorial Trophy.
Through contributions to the Jeff Triffitt Memorial Fund, we are expecting to raise sufficient funds to commission a trophy of appropriate prestige, to be engraved with the winner's name and remain on permanent display in the Club rooms. We will also commission an equally prestigious medal to be presented annually for the winner to retain.
We would welcome your contribution to ensuring that Jeff's own contribution to the Old Launcestonians Football Club is never forgotten and ask that you donate to the extent that your circumstances allow.
Bumpy was one of a kind.
Quite simply he was liked and loved by all those who knew him and he is sorely missed by those with whom he was closest.
Rest in Peace Jeff, we hope that in some small way, this award will ensure your memory lives on for those who knew you, played alongside you and loved you.
