Jeffery's Chair and BEYOND!!!

My name is Kelly Leiter and I am a teacher at Moore High School. I teach special education, which means I have the privilege of working with some of the most inspiring people in the world!
I would like for you to meet Jeffrey, lovingly referred to as Jr. Jeffery has cerebral palsy, but CP does not have him! He is one of the strongest young men I have ever met. Last year he walked to most of his classes with his walker - even though it caused him daily pain. This summer, he had a surgery in which both legs had to be broken in order to straighten them. He was expected to miss the first 8 weeks of school, but he was there the first day! He is working on gaining the strength to use his walker again - but in the meantime, he is confined to his motorized wheelchair. The problem this presents is that he can not go to school functions and community activities because his parents do not have a vehicle with a lift for his chair. He supports the basketball and soccer teams by being a manager - but is unable to attend games.

However, with the purchase of this JAZZY PASSPORT portable chair -Not only could he access all of the places and events he is missing out on, but he could also continue being the inspiration to the teams and people he loves so much.
In the past year, Jeffery has nominated me through local news stations for Teacher of the Day - and Teacher of the Month - Twice!!! And in all instances, I was acknowledged and awarded. I have been able to bring adaptive equipment into my classroom - and now I want to pay it forward to him - by raising enough funds for him to have this much needed portable chair. I am going to donate the money I am being awarded from OKC's NEWS 9 - to support this fundraiser. Any amount that exceeds the purchase of this chair, will go to his family as they have many medical expenses in continuing his life long care.
In October, Jr. and his parents will be returning to Shreveport, LA for a week of "Intense Physical Therapy". This will include hotel bills, gas, food and general expenses along the way. They also have to travel to Florida for family issues. This chair and any extra money raised, will insure that these trips are easily accessible and free from financial stress.

If you know Jr., you know how much he deserves this. He loves well and is constantly finding a way to give to others. If you haven't met him yet, I hope that some day you do - and your life will be forever changed by his big smile and loving heart.
BE - DO - HAVE - BE COMMITTED TO DO WHAT IT TAKES TO HAVE WHAT YOU WANT!
At the beginning of the year, my students set a yearly goal for themselves. Jr's goal was:
"This year I will pass my classes with A+" He always sets the bar high for himself and that sets the bar high for us.
I believe he can do it - and I believe that together we can as well!! Let's do this!
