To all that know and love Jen Diehl:
Jen Diehl is a long time, valued employee of The Gow School. Over 21 years!!! We ALL know Jen as a fighter…a fighter for the school, a fighter for her co-workers, a fighter for the underdog, and a fighter for those in need. Anytime a volunteer is needed to help with the school, cook a meal, talk to a family, work with a vendor...Jen is there. Now is our chance to show up for Jen…as she has shown up for everyone else. This is a platform and an opportunity to help Jen in the form of $$$ dollars, to use for what she needs---when she needs it. It’s that simple.
Jen is battling two different types of breast cancer. Over the July 4th weekend, Jen had a three day hospital stay as her initial chemo treatment was attacking her blood. They were concerned she also had leukemia. Fortunately that was not the case, and a change in chemo medications got her back on track. This Wednesday, September 9th, is her last planned treatment. On September 17th, she will have more tests and meets with the surgeon a week later to discuss best surgical options going forward.
I can share with you from my perspective that Jen is diligent about planning. She plans her finances, has been diligent about health care choices—doing research, asking questions---to choose the plan most appropriate for her. All the planning in the world cannot account for all of the unforeseen impacts of a battle with cancer. Co-pays, deductibles, to and from appointment costs for gas, vehicle wear and tear, etc. There are days you can’t get up. Days you feel down. Bills to pay. Health care premiums. Paycheck deductions to cover. Clothing costs. The list goes on.
As you could imagine, someone who is a helper, often has the most difficulty asking for help. This is why I approached Jen. And asked her to give us, as a community, the opportunity to help her…as she would want to…help any of us. Thankfully, she graciously agreed.
Jen's connections, inside and outside of Gow, can help achieve this goal of $5,000 to make a significant difference in her day to day obstacles and challenges due to her cancer. Your gift can be posted or it can be anonymous, but ALL are appreciated! The sooner we get them to her the better!
A little love from a lot of us will go a loooong way for Jen. Please consider any amount to contribute that you're able to. And please share this page with anyone you think would like to hop on THIS bus to help our dear friend.
With gratitude,
Katie Tierney
