So you're eating plant-based, whether as a lifestyle or as the occasional meal when your vegan daughter-in-law visits. Now, what wine to serve with your crab-less cakes or your leek & onion tart?

If you search online or in the bookstore, you'll find little to no help. While the interest and popularity in plant-based dining has skyrocketed over the past few years, the wine world has been slow to catch up and it is almost impossible to find information on pairing wine with vegan foods. Just think of how often you've heard 'red wine with red meat', 'white wine with white meat'? We feel it's about time to create some plant-based equivalents of those sayings!

That's why we--Master Sommelier, Jen Huether and vegan foodie & TV host, Priya Rao--created The Social Herbivore and are writing the world's FIRST book on wine pairings for plant-based cuisine.

We've been working on writing this book for the last 2 1/2 years, meaning lots of recipe testing and dinners with friends to find those oh-so-perfect pairings--tough work but it had to be done.

We are opting to self-publish because we don't want to wait the typical 16-24 months to go through the traditional publishing process.
We're ready to get this book out there in the SUMMER OF 2021!

We know these are hard times and we want you to know exactly where the funds are going:

$3000 - Photography, including hair and makeup artist for photo shoot
$1500 - Layout and design
$2000 - Publicity and Marketing
$1000 - Publishing costs including upfront printing of copies for local wineries and vegan businesses
Total--$7500

Basically, we want to cover all the things we literally cannot do ourselves.

 The book will include: 
          *40 recipes separated into Small Talk (appetizers and starters), Big Talk (main dishes) and Sweet Talk (desserts)
          *A high/low wine pairing for each recipe
          *Expert ideas on how to elevate your wine hosting game
          *Info on starting your own wine cellar
          *Tips and tricks for the sustainably-minded host(ess)
          ...and much more!

As with all our endeavours, a portion of the sale of each hard copy and ebook will be donated to the Toronto Vegetarian Food Bank .
