Help Jennifer (Hall) Woodworth Get Back on her Feet...

Hi, my name is Lindsay and I am fundraising on behalf of my dearest friends Jen and Woody. I honestly don't even know where to start. Woody (Ray Woodworth Jr.) was one of the strongest men I have ever known. He could build anything, fix anything, even weld your mouth shut, he was a hard worker throughout his life. If you asked a task of him, he would have been there. Woody served in the military in his earlier years and then became a successful welder, jobs that were hard on his body.

Later, he came back to his family homestead. It was there that he met and fell in love with his wife Jen who had a special affinity for the land and the history of the property. They lived off grid on their homestead in a remote part of Maine. Jen worked the land to bring their historical property back to life and create an artist retreat which was surpassed by none. Life was not easy living off grid but they made it work. As the years passed Woody started to experience an immense amount of pain. His body was failing him but he kept going. Woody was always a private person, never one to complain, keeping his suffering silent.

He kept on keeping on and doing his due diligence to be the provider for his family. It was not long after when Jen had to transition to a full-time care giver for her mother who was elderly and suffering from dementia. For several years she watched her mom decline and she balanced caring for the homestead while spending countless days in the ER with her mom or at the assisted living facility. Jen's mom passed in October of 2022 with her by her side. About two weeks after her passing, Woody was in an accident on the homestead. It rendered him incapable of work. His pain became unbearable, he lost feeling in his arms and legs in addition to frequent falls and the inability to preform the smallest of tasks. From there, things went downhill. Jen had secured a job to help them financially, but that quickly went by the wayside with Woody's medical needs. Her job was to see to it that he was cared for. A myriad of appointments were made before he had a diagnoses. Surgeries were scheduled and they had hope that things would improve. A very tragic turn... after another injury Woody became septic... his kidneys shut down and he was admitted to the hospital. While expectations were that he would pull through, he did not. Woody unexpectedly passed after coding in the hospital.

At the time of his death there was very little income coming into the family. Travel, medical bills, funeral expenses have all piled up. Jen dedicated the entirety of her space to being a good human and making sure that he was cared for. I have gone through this experience with the family and they are good people. They have given their all to each other and have been dealt an unfortunate set of cards...
