“As I started chemo this morning, my new reality had officially set in. It’s seemed like a nightmare that I just couldn’t wake up from and I definitely wasn’t ready to accept. After having some answers and a clear diagnosis, I have accepted this challenge and am ready to kick some butt. I have been diagnosed with lung cancer that has spread to my airways, into the bone and most difficult to hear, my brain. This has been so hard to accept, as I felt fine a month ago.
This diagnosis has left me with so many emotions... starting with anger, lots of fear and now I’m filled with hope. The support I have had from everyone has made me realize I have an ugly sickness, but such a beautiful life filled with so many amazing people. So for everyone that has reached out to me and my family, THANK YOU! From the bottom of my heart, you have given me faith that I got this. It’s just a minor set back, but I have so much to look forward to. An amazing family and friends, a school family that has been nothing short of amazing through all of this and my beautiful baby girl! I’ve been blessed with wonderful doctors who have done everything they can to help me be more comfortable and have got this process going quickly! I mean what 30 year old wouldn’t want to have an oxygen tank to carry around?! ♀️
I felt this was easier to update everyone, and I apologize if I didn’t get back to anyone individually. Just know I appreciate the kind texts and prayers, but am not on my A game with responding right now.” - Jen Z
