Jen's Health Recovery Fund
Donation protected
Hi, My name is Crystal Lyons and I'm raising funds for my sister, Jennifer Lyons, who is suffering from great illness.
ABOUT JEN:
Jennifer (better known as Jen) is 36 years old. She does not live a "normal" life. She's unable to work. She's unable to go out and socialize, or even do most things that the average person does. She spends a lot of time in her single apartment alone in a debilitating state, often not leaving her bed or seeing people for days. When her symptoms are at their worst, she is unable to walk or carry her groceries and even struggles to hold up her phone to talk. Jen has a father, mother, two sisters, and a brother, though she lives away from her family in the town of Creemore, Ontario (her home for over 10 years), where she is currently receiving treatment. For the past years, Jen has been struggling with depression, intense physical pain, chronic fatigue, insomnia, difficulty focusing and memory loss, nausea and vomiting, amongst other symptoms. When I speak to her, I can sense that she is overwhelmed. She feels a sense of hopelessness and has given up, not believing that there is anything that she can do or that she will ever get better. This has been very painful for my family and I to see her going through this and not being able to do anything that could help. According to her doctor, these issues are result of Lyme disease, Fibromyalgia, and severe Celiac disease.
Those who know Jen know that she is naturally a very social fun-loving being who cares very deeply for others. She is incredibly giving of herself, often sacrificing her own needs in the service of others (including ALL life forms). She is truly one of the most compassionate and sensitive beings I know. In my opinion, her illness is now robbing the world of these precious gifts.
MEDICAL NEEDS
Her doctor has reported that with the state of her health, her body is in rapid decline. Though her doctor is not able to do much without the funds to pay for the necessary treatment. Her doctor has been providing her with a basic medical protocol (at the doctor's expense) for Lyme disease, but says that what she really needs is a stronger protocol of medicines which costs significantly more money. Antibiotics, which would be mostly covered by government funding, is not an option for Jen because of her severe Celiac's disease. Due to her coexisting conditions, she needs an alternative treatment, which is not covered by medicare. Her doctor says that she will need to be sent to a naturopath who has expertise of Celiac and Lyme in order to find a treatment that will not exaserbate her other health conditions. These treatments will not be covered by medicare. Her doctor said her treatments will likely cost approximately $10,000 to start, but that she will need more to continue the treatments more long term.
MEDICAL RESULTS
The results of her Horowitz questionnaire (HMQ/HLMQ) are 149 - the highest score her doctor has ever seen.
Her CD57 is 1.7%, which are incredibly low.
HOPE FOR THE FUTURE
My hope is that Jen will be able to overcome her current illness to a point where she is not just functioning "normally" but is thriving and sharing all of her precious gifts with the world.... that she will once again be able to create and spread beauty through her music and art... that she will be able to get out and see people and share her love and compassion with others. That she herself will find hope again that she can live a life of quality and meaning.
As Jen's doctor has indicated, the need for treatment is urgent. Any amount of donation will help with this treatment. Kindly also share the fundraiser with your family and friends and help us reach the goal amount! We are grateful for your help!
Thank you immensely!
