Jen's vision Journey
Donation protected
Living life in full bloom can come to an abrupt stop when your have a medical problem.
Our daughter Jennifer has been an insulin dependent diabetic [juvenile / type 1] since she was only 4 years old. We have learned all about diabetes and grown with the technology over the past 30 years.
Tears over sugar free candy and treats, that didn't really taste all that good, and cause some quick trips to the bathroom when she ate too much at once!
Too many finger pokes to get the right amount of blood to go on the test strip. Learning how to sooth the callus' they caused.
Comfort fears when it was time to go over to friends houses and have sleep overs when no one else had to do what she have to do. Having to listen to your mom tell the other mom what to look for and how to treat a low blood glucose level.
All the stares we'd got at a restaurant when we'd take the syringe out for the insulin injection before our meal.
Now, most of these concerns were outgrown and the sugar free foods and treats have gotten so much better!
What hasn't gotten better is the complications of being a diabetic, cardiovascular disease, blindness and eye damage, kidney failure, nerve damage and skin conditions to name a few.
Why are we asking for your help?
Many of you personally know Jen, as she has touched many lives in our area. Jen is a loving and giving person. She is the first to step up to lend a helping hand or drop off a dinner to someone in need.
She is a private person who finds it hard to ask for help but has given permission to share her story. We know there are many who will want to encourage and help her and her family during this struggle.
This past week, for the second time in 2 years, she has had loss of vision in her left eye, which turned out to be vitreous hemorrhage with detached retina. The first time this happened they were able to treat it with laser surgery and she had a full recovery.
This time, she lost full vision prior to seeing the doctor. He did four injections in the left eye, as it was too late to do the laser surgery, and as of today, no vision has returned.
She will be returning on 8/28/20 to the surgery center for laser surgery to her right eye, which is showing early signs of the same problems. At that time, they plan to to schedule surgery on the left eye in hopes it will restore vision, as long as the hemorrhage is healed.
We are hoping to help Jen and her husband, Tom, as well as their children to get through this difficult time. The specific needs would be with medical and living expenses, such as, doctor bills, mortgage, utilities, groceries, gas and insurance. At the present time, Jen has been taken out of work with no answer on if or when she can return.
We are aware that many people are currently going through their own financial issues. We understand if you cannot donate, but keeping this special family in your prayers and sharing her story is appreciated.
We ask that you give the Donley family their privacy during this difficult time, but if you have questions please feel free to reach out to me, [Rebekah].
Thank you for your donation, time and prayers and we will update you soon on her progress.
Please share as much as you can, as every penny helps pay the bills!
