Jena’s Journey to Recovery

My sister suffered a near drowning celebrating her birthday.

My name is Rachel Roberson. My sister is Jena Roberson Hudson. The picture you see is only 7 days apart. She is a mother of six, wife, daughter, sister and loved by many. She has been in the hospital since June 24th, 2023. An undiagnosed heart condition caused her to pass out while in the pool which then caused a near-drowning, cardiac arrest and a coma. This happened in front her husband, kids and friends. Two of her daughters (age 20 and 12) performed CPR on her while waiting for EMS. She was full code upon EMS arrival. She was placed on a ventilator and life support. Jena is slowly progressing and we have been moved around to a total of 4 other facilities during her recovery time. This last facility in Jacksonville is a full functioning rehabilitation center.

Jena is a full time employee for Orange County. Although very assisting in this process, there is only so much that can be done financially through her job. We have been trying to fill in the financial gaps with her immediate family. She still has such a long road ahead. We are needing equipment which not all is covered by the insurance for in-home care. She will have nursing staff coming to the house and insurance is running out very quickly.

We are asking for help. Jena's deserves and needs as much care as possible but unfortunately, that comes with a financial burden. Hospital bills are piling up and bills for the home are as well.
