Hi. I'm Jennifer. Ten years ago I was paralyzed by random gun violence. Since then, I've worked hard to rebuild my life.
Part of that journey was making this little bungalow that was build in 1926 my home. It's close to everything that's important to me and this location allows me to participate more in my community. I'm just looking to have a clean, safe, peaceful place to call home.
True of all houses of this age, it needed some work. I set aside money to update my home and add some accessible features. I put in air conditioning (It didn't have it) and added a wheelchair ramp. There were some unforeseen issues to be dealt with, so I've done extensive roof work and had to replace all the plumbing.
Which brings me to this campaign. While updating the bathroom to create wheelchair access, we found damage to the foundation that must be repaired. A couple of the piers the house sits on have degraded from years of deferred maintenance and they need to be fixed and some of the joists need to be jacked up.
The photo shows the space that is supposed to be my bedroom and bathroom, just waiting until we can resume work. I need roughly $5,000 to do this foundation repair. Until then, all work is at a stand still.
I could really use your help in any amount you can spare. In return, I have pledged additional hours to community service.
