Jenna...A Survivor like no other!
Linda and I (Craig) want you to meet our friend Jenna. If you knew her history, and saw how far she has come, you might follow our lead and become one of her greatest fans!
Jenna, a single mom of two boys, Myles, age 11 and Daijen, age 2 1/2, has climbed out of one of the most challenging situations we have personally been involved with.
To hear her story, which includes a stint of homelessness and many levels of abuse, and to watch her now as she raises her boys on her own, and supports them through her house cleaning business, has been a journey we would like share with you.
We met Jenna while she was cleaning a house. One thing led to another and she became our house cleaner 4 years ago. During this time Linda saw something in Jenna, something worth investing in.
Jenna is one of the hardest workers we have seen in a long time, cleaning short-term vacation rentals from sun-up to well past dark with her 2 1/2 year old in tow. Her mission in life is to provide her boys with as normal of an upbringing as she can.
She is sweet, compassionate to a fault (she constantly is extending herself beyond her resources to help others), God fearing, a new Christian and embraces the future with a positive outlook that belies her current condition.
Jenna is a very sick girl. Her illness was diagnosed more than a year ago which resulted in a surgery that did not produce the outcome it should have. She recently was informed by her physician that she needs another surgery and soon.
Herein lies her struggle. Jenna’s inclination is to wait until the summer vacation season has ended and have her surgery in September. Her surgeon emphatically insists she does it now as her condition is that serious.
To compound the stress of not being able to work adequately (having lost clients due to her previous surgery and strenuously working when she should have been recuperating at home), Jenna is putting her need for income in front of dealing with a serious medical condition.
The purpose of this "GoFundMe" page is to help Jenna financially meet her rent, groceries for her family and to allow her to finally address her health. This is expected to take 3 months and during her "busy" season.
Unfortunately, this story extends to her 2 1/2 year old son Daijen too. He has a serious medical condition with his liver and is a future potential liver transplant candidate….unbelievably at 2 1/2 years old. Between her own medical appointments and Daijen’s, she sometimes has to travel 4-6 hours to see specialists.
Jenna and Daijen are both on Medicaid. For Linda and me this is our first look into those who have to rely on a system, where one is treated by medical professionals as second rate citizens. Jenna has had to beg to get Dr.’s attention, treatment and much needed medical help. Some have asked if Jenna has family that she can lean on and sadly the answer is very limited.
To wrap this narrative up, Jenna is a good mother and an extremely hard worker. Her dilema to provide for her family by working when she needs to address her health is at the heart of this request.
Please join Linda and me as we start this “Go Fund Me” page, not only to help Jenna through this time, but also to invest in a young woman who has overcome incredible adversity.
We have seen some of the most successful GoFundMe campaigns
funded through donations as little as $5.00 Just as important as any monetary contribution is the opportunity to leave a note of encouragement to Jenna that even if you don’t know her you are rooting for her and praying for her!
