Jennifer Berezan's New Album!
Donation protected
Dear Friends,
I’m doing it!
I’ve started working on my new CD! I’ve been hoping to record for a few years now, but time always seemed to get filled up with travel, teaching, live-event producing, child care … life.
One of the silver linings of the pandemic has been finding time to work on this project. Though the past year has included the challenges of homeschooling, loss of work, and puppy raising, I’ve finally found some space to create.
The album will feature new songs(some that you have long been asking for), and a re-make of an old favorite. I will be recording with my brilliant friend, engineer/producer Don Benedictson (Returning, Praises for the World, Song for All Beings.) It will feature lots of wonderful musicians and singers from the US and Canada.
I’ve never done a crowd-sourcing campaign before, but it’s clear now more than ever that creative projects require community support. As an independent artist I have long been lifted up and supported by our community. I’m so grateful that I can create and share music as my work and it has only been possible because of your generosity. Professional recordings are expensive to make; it can take years to recoup the cost. I deeply appreciate your help in bringing this new music into the world.
All donations are deeply appreciated...large and small. Everything adds up and eventually becomes...music!
So far the project includes:
Plant a Tree (What do we do in the face of climate change? An upbeat, rocking number with an upcoming video to raise money for planting trees worldwide). Inspired by Joanna Macy and other activists.
Primrose Light (Celebrating the beauty of the world—in the midst of everything. Written on Summer Solstice in the Yukon Territory)
One Breath at a Time ( My friend/colleague Lior Tsarfaty wrote the beautiful chorus. I wrote the verses on a beach in Pt. Reyes, CA in the beginning months of the pandemic).
April Morning (A danceable song of hope written last spring on my new tenor guitar)
Paris in the Rain (A personal story written in--you guessed it--Paris)
Gone Beyond (A chant/song based on the Buddhist Heart Sutra)
She Carries Me (With a new verse! and lots of guest singers; I’m so excited about this!)
Go In Peace (Sam Baker’s profound composition)
Thank you for all of your support. I hope to see you in person somewhere soon!
I will be posting updates as the project progresses.
With love and gratitude,
Jennifer
