Jennifer was diagnosed with Cholangiocarcinoma at age fifty-one on July 9, 2019. Jen underwent invasive surgery, trying to remove her cancer with a sixty percent liver resection, as well as put a port in place for future treatments. Round one of chemo and radiation therapy wasn't successful either and the cancer continued to spread to other parts of her liver, hip and lung.
We began radiation on her hip areas and a second round of chemotherapy began. Jennifer found an experimental trial drug, just before starting the second chemo, for her oncologist to investigate. After finding out the chemo treatment had failed, application was made to get the drug.. but the doctor left the practice before it came in for Jen. Another doctor had to start the process over, by the time the clinical trail came in she was unable to eat much due to the radiation burn in her stomach.
We went forward with different options so we started TPN on a Friday (total nutrition through her port) as well as her clinical trial. Unfortunately Jen was having intense pain and went to FMH by Monday afternoon. There we were told to wait on the clinical trial, and we discussed all of our options.
Our home is full of medical supplies, nurses and supporting people. Since our family and Jen has been fighting this horrid disease for over a year and because we are continuing to look for resources and anything we can do, during this time we are asking for assistant. Since some of the medical supplies and other things we have done are not covered under her insurance policy we are becoming financially burdened with medical expenses on top of our monthly bills. Anything at this time will be greatly appreciated by the family as we join Jen in this fight.
