Jennifer Kowaluk

It is with heavy hearts that we share the news of the passing of Jen Kowaluk. Jen leaves behind her two beautiful girls, Abigail and Julia.

Jen was first diagnosed with colorectal cancer in August of 2020. She received surgery, chemotherapy and radiation treatments and was amazingly able to enter remission. This past July, her yearly scans showed a tumour on her liver. Jen again faced the diagnosis with bravery and started receiving chemotherapy in October 2023. By the time she started treatments, scans showed that the cancer was already spreading to other areas of her body. In January, a complication arose with the spread, resulting in emergency surgery. Sadly, because of the surgery, treatments for her cancer had to be halted, allowing the tumour to grow faster than we ever imagined. The goal was to get her out of the hospital well enough so that she could again start treatment from home. She never wavered in her willingness to keep trying to hold back the spread of the disease, even though she was in a great deal of pain. Despite her strong and courageous outlook, Jen passed away in the hospital on February 5, 2024.

Kathy Wintoniw, Jen's mom, will care for the two strong young women she leaves behind. This GoFundMe campaign aims to help alleviate some of Kathy's financial burden and provide a safety net as she provides all of the resources they need now and in the years to come. Every contribution, no matter the size, is sincerely appreciated and will significantly impact the family during this stressful time.
